December is almost here

So. Tomorrow is the first day of December and the countdown to Christmas begins. Girls day out 2007 lasts from Thursday 6th till Monday 9th. We will maintain our traditional tourist status. Just because it's our own capital city doesn't mean we can't be tourists. So we will see Farquhar at the Abbey, hear Handel's Messiah and check out the National Gallery. And maybe Tara's castle, if we happen to trip over it when we're out and about in Malahide.

We have exceedingly couth precedents to uphold. So that Pedro can see that we're still too couth for our boots, we will discuss, at length, in his hearing, which of the following was best:
1 Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet in Budapest? (Covent Garden's R&J doesn't merit a mention)
2 Nabucco in Prague? Or The Magic Flute? Or The Marriage of Figaro?
3 The Goya room in Prado, Madrid? Or Picasso at the Reina Sophia?
4 The Armada anchor in the Friary Museum?

Do you know that rain never falls on the capital city of Ireland? That wet stuff that falls out of the sky is only oul' talk about rain.
However it does rain in Rossnowlagh and it hailstones and the wind blows, bitterly, especially if there's a Christmas swimin progress. See below.

Rossnowlagh Christmas Swim with storm and hailstones

How clever of Pedro to go home to Madrid for Christmas and miss the Christmas swim. The downside of that is that he also misses my delicious turkey giblet soup and he doesn't get to stack up hot ports.

That Christmas swim photo would make even the toughest soggy bottom boy run for the warmth of Madrid.

Pedro says that Madrid is colder that Ireland at Christmas, but I reckon that's only oul talk- they don't have the savage wind that turns us into port guzzling wee brutes.
